He’d never even noticed Alpha in that way before. Alpha was Daddy, someone whose directions he followed and opinions he respected.
Alpha led Skid to a clearing. The area looked familiar. From the charred black stumps and sparse fallen logs Skid deduced and recognized the place. The forest fire. Over four years ago. Sprinkled here and there like toothpicks were short skinny barren trees making a comeback through a fresh thin blanket of winter snow.
Alpha stopped and shifted back to human form, waiting expectantly for him to follow suit. Trouble was, Skid didn’t know how to transition back. How he’d shifted in the first place was purely coincidental. He hadn’t even known he was a shifter. He looked at Alpha and suddenly longed to be in human form. He’d like to cuddle up next to that warm lean scrumptious muscle of a man. A flurry of erotic fantasies gripped him.
Skid shifted before he even realized what had happened. He looked down. Sure enough he was whole and human … and sporting a huge inconvenient erection. Skid covered himself and gulped in embarrassment, not daring to look into Alpha’s eyes. He was suddenly glad that his brothers were back a ways, on guard. He didn’t need to look around to sense them on full alert.
“Eyes on me,” Alpha ordered.
Skid gulped and met the amber eyes. Once again he marveled at his night vision. So many questions ran through his mind. Only one popped out in posthaste, “H-h-how did you know?”
